Theresa McCoy, a percussionist whose musical journey is a fusion of classical mastery and contemporary exploration, enjoys performing in a wide variety of musical genres. Theresa’s impact on the music scene includes premiering cutting-edge compositions with the Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music America, and gracing the stages of renown festivals like the Ojai Festival, the Idyllwild Music Festival, the Britt Festival, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Currently, Theresa is a vital force in multiple music endeavors, including serving as Principal Timpanist with the Rogue Valley Symphony, conguera with Salsa Brava, and drummer for the Hopfinger Fusion/Jazz Ensemble, the Janus Trio, the Timberline Express Big Band, among others. Beyond the confines of tradition, she has added her rhythmic touch to blockbuster movie soundtracks and collaborated with iconic figures like Quincy Jones, Donna Summer, Bernadette Peters, Jeff Pevar, Gene Black, Nancy Sinatra, seamlessly navigating genres from opera and musicals to rock, jazz, and salsa.

Her mentors are luminaries such as former L.A. Philharmonic Principal Timpanist and composer William Kraft, Principal Percussionist Mitchell Peters, studio percussionist Greg Goodall, marimba soloist Karen Ervin-Pershing, Afro-Cuban master drummers Luis Conte and Jerry Steinholtz, and Charles Dowd, the former head of Percussion studies at the University of Oregon.
